What is ISIN?
International Securities Identification Number. It is a unique international code which identifies an issued security. Each country has a national numbering agency which assigns ISIN numbers for securities in that country.


What is a corporate action?
This is any event initiated by a corporation which impacts it shareholders. For some such events, shareholders may or must respond to the corporate action or select from a list of possible actions. Examples include share split, share buybacks, rights issue, bonus issue, capital reduction and mergers.

Is the date of purchasing of any significance when buying shares of a listed company?
Yes. Purchasing shares before the company’s AGM is convened, will entitle one to share out of any declared profits or distribution in accordance to the company’s Articles of Association.


What is capitalization issue?
Capitalization issue is a benefit distribution in which additional shares are issued to qualifying shareholders (at no cost) in proportion to their existing holdings, due to a re-arrangement of a company's capital structure. No new funds are raised for the company. It is also known as a Bonus Issue.


What is a nominal value?
The value ascribed to a share when it is first authorized and issued by a company. The nominal value bears no relationship to a share's market value.


How can I obtain shares of a listed company?
Stocks in publicly traded companies are bought and sold at a stock market (also known as a stock exchange).


What are Authorized Shares?
This is the largest number of shares that a corporation can issue. The number of authorized shares per company is assessed at the company's creation and can only be increased and decreased through a vote by the shareholders.
