[2007-11-23]  Mutual and federal appoints citizen MD
Insurance house, Mutual & Federal Botswana, has announced the appointment of Jack Bekker as incumbent Managing Director. Bekker, a Botswana citizen, replaces Brian Kelly who has taken up his new position within the Group as Regional Director in Pretoria.



Bekker worked formerly for the PG Group, later moving to the African Banking Corporation as Relationship Manager with particular responsibility for leasing and investments.

He joined Mutual & Federal in 2005 as Claims Manager.

Commenting on his new appointment, Bekker said that although the local insurance market had been oversubscribed in recent years, the recent upturn in the economy had opened up positive growth potential. His main aim, he said, was to consolidate existing business as well as to actively target increased corporate market share.

The company was also looking to dominate the private insurance sector. Earlier this year Mutual & Federal launched a comprehensive new personal insurance package known as Allsure, regarded as one of the best available for its wide range of personal and household cover.

Bekkker is married with two sons. In his spare time he is a keen golfer and is a former Secretary to the Gaborone Rifle Club.
