[2008-10-10] Equity nominated for African Bankers Awards
Equity bank has been nominated for this year's prestigious African Bankers Awards, 2008 to be held at Washington DC, USA.Equity has been short listed for the Micro Finance Bank of the Year category in the awards that recognize and reward across 17 award categories the individuals, companies and institutions which have excelled in Africa's banking and financial sector over the last year. Equity is currently the biggest bank in Kenya in terms of accounts-over 2.8mn accounting for over 48% percent of all bank accounts in the country supported by an 88 branch network, 350 VISA ATMs and 2500 Points of Sales. The awards, started last year, reward among other things achievements, record earnings, innovative practices and their commitment to corporate social responsibility and gender equality. They are designed to recognize the reforms, rapid modernization, consolidation, integration and expansion of the African Banking sector. This year has seen the number of entries across the various categories more than double, compared to the previous year.
