[2008-07-24] Kenol wins oil supply tender Kenya Oil Company (Kenol), has won the tenders for the supply of crude oil to the country for September
.
The oil marketer will supply 80,000 metric tonnes of Murban Crude Oil and another 80,000 metric tones of Arab Medium Crude Oil.
The tenders which were supervised by the Ministry of Energy were under the open tender system.
The announcement closely followed the firm’s acquisition of STIPAGG Oil Company in Rwanda on Tuesday. Through its subsidiary Kobil Rwanda SARL, the company took over six new stations.
The delivery of the consignments is expected to enable the oil marketers in Kenya to meet the processing obligations at the Kenya Petroleum Refineries
The refinery is located in Mombasa, and is sufficient to meet 70 per cent of the local market’s demand.
The remaining 30 per cent of the market demand is met by direct importation of refined products.
The imports satisfy both the local market and demand for the neighbouring countries like Uganda and Rwanda
