[2008-03-10] Lafarge records all time high on Luse
THE Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE) witnessed Lafarge Cement Zambia share price go up by K51.00, recording an all time high of K6, 401.00.
However they were loses in Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) share price which went down by K149.99 closing at K850.00, Cavmont Capital Holdings of Zambia (CCHZ) dropped to K11.00 and Bata Zambia went down by K10.00 ending at K210.00.
This was when LuSE all share index closed last week at 4,567.97 points up by 5.9 per cent from 4,312.93 points ended 29 February 2008.
According to LuSE Weekly Stock News for the month of March, gains were recorded in British American Tobacco (BAT) which went up by K0.50 to close at K2, 000.50, Standard Chartered Bank closed at K650.00 up by K190.00 and Zambeef gained K55 ending at K6,655.00.
260,710,222 shares were transacted in 153 trades resulting in a total turnover of K5.94 billion.
This is compared to 3,286,379 shares that were transacted in 170 trades yielding a turnover of K4.27 billion the previous week ending February 29.
Trading activity occurred in 13 listed companies, Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC), Cavmont Capital Holdings of Zambia (CCHZ), British American Tobacco (BAT), and Lafarge, Standard Chartered Bank.
Others were African Explosive Limited Zambia (AELZ), BP Zambia, Investrust Bank, National Breweries, Pamodzi and Zambia Sugar.
