[2008-03-25] LUSE all share index gains
THE Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE) all share index closed last week at 4,625.09 points up by 0.25% from 4,613.54 points week ended 14 March 2008.
At least 3,032,325 shares were transacted in 152 trades resulting in a total turnover of K2.08 billion.
This is in comparison with 5,823,223 shares that were transacted in 147 trades yielding a turnover of K3.01 billion recorded during the week ended March 14.
According to the (LuSE) weekly stock exchange report, Lafarge Zambia plc, recorded an all time high of K7,500.00, Zambeef gained K295 and closed at K6,950.00, African Explosive Limited (AEL) Zambia gained K5.00 ending at K2,210 and British American Tobacco (BAT) gained K100.00 ending at K2,100.00.
Other gains were recorded in Cavmont Capital Holdings which posted a K3.00 gain and closed at K15.00.
while National Breweries was up by K1.00 closing at K8, 351.00.
Trading activity occurred in fourteen listed companies, Lafarge Zambia plc, Zambeef, AEL Zambia, BAT, Cavmont Capital Holdings and National Breweries, Pamodzi Hotel, Zamefa, Zambian Breweries and Bata.
Others were BP Zambia, Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC), Investrust Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Zambia Sugar.
There were losses in BP Zambia after it closed at K1, 000.00 down by K150, CEC lost K100 ending at K700.00, Investrust Bank closed at K45 down by K2.00, Standard Chartered Bank closed at K670.00 after losing K5.00. and Zambia Sugar closed at K599.00 down by K1.00.
Trading activity have remained bullish(stronger) as stock prices continue appreciating with the index gaining since the beginning of the year.
